Cinereous Vulture, "Bruno"
Born: 5/13/87
Birthplace: Riverbanks Zoological Park, Columbia, South Carolina.
Home at LPZ: Regenstein Bird of Prey Exhibit.
Bruno was hand-raised at the Riverbanks Zoological Park in Columbia, South
Carolina. He was purchased by Lincoln Park Zoo in October 1987. Bruno spent
a year and a half living at the Milwaukee County Zoo, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
where he met his mate "Lurch." Both birds came to Lincoln Park
Zoo in May, 1989, and for the last two years, zookeepers have reported that
Bruno and Lurch have shown interest in breeding and nest building. Because
Bruno was hand-raised, he has little fear of people and is known to nip
at the legs of zookeepers who work inside his enclosure. |
